Chairman Pakistan Steel Lieutenant General Abdul Qayyum (Retd) on Tuesday said Pakistan could easily be transformed into an economically sound, developed and modern state "by improving its educational and judicial systems". "Our youths have tremendous potential and talent in them. What they need is provision of quality education and justice, and I assure you nothing will stop Pakistan from emerging as a strong developed country" he said while speaking at 18th Parents Day of Pakistan Steel Cadet College (PSCC), Karachi.
He maintained that although Pakistan Steel was nowadays performing best in steel production since its establishment and became a profit-earning industrial concern, instead of wasting its resources in non-development expenditures, it was investing in education.
"We are giving top-most priority to upgrade our educational institutions and by the grace of Allah Almighty, our educational institutions are one of the performing institutions in the country" he said adding that PS administration was hiring services of best faculty members for its educational institutions.
Chairman Pakistan Steel said special attention was paid towards upgrading of libraries, latest tools of knowledge like computers and internet besides provision of sports and recreational facilities for students, enrolled at schools and colleges run by PS.
"And you can yourself see that cadets of PSCC have performed extraordinarily in academics, sports and co-curricular activities at national level" he said and congratulated teaching faculty and instructors of the Cadet College for success and achievements of their cadets.
On the occasion, he announces establishment of two new hostels at the college and membership of Arabian Sea Country Club for PSCC cadets to benefit from its riding, yachting, swimming and other recreational facilities.
Principal PSCC Captain Zaheeruddin Malik (Retd) in his welcome address informed in detail about the success and achievements of his cadets, saying their students performed remarkably both in SSC and HSC exams conducted by secondary and intermediate boards of Karachi.
He informed that in addition to construction of two more hostels, an additional academic block was also being constructed while PS administration had pledged to provide more scholarships to students.
PSCC Principal on the occasion urged parents of cadets to remain in constant touch with college administration in order to get acquaint with progress and performance of their sons.
Director Hadeed Welfare Trust Brigadier G.M Awan (Retd) also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, a contingent of PSCC cadets presented guard of honour to Chairman Pakistan Steel on his arrival at the college while he witnessed March Past, PT and gymnastic display and visited different hobby clubs and Hadeedians' stall.
A large number of parents, relatives of PSCC cadets and PS officials were present at the Parents Day.
