Senate Standing Committee on Communications has recommended that proper procedure should be adopted and checking by various agencies should be carried out at the entry points, border areas only. The committee which met here with Senator Kamil Ali Agha in chair also underlined the need to gradually transform the National Highways into real comfort zone.
It was observed that establishment of separate check posts by various agencies at different places results in inconvenience to general public.
The committee made this observation while discussing the problems faced by the travellers due to establishment of various check posts on Peshawar- Rawalpindi/Islamabad road, says a press release issued here on Tuesday.
The committee decided to constitute a sub-committee headed by Senator Kamil Ali Agha to thrash out the issue in detail and come up with its proposals, recommendations at an early date.
The members of the committee noted with satisfaction that the National Highway Authority, in line with the recommendations of the Senate Standing Committee on Communications, has introduced a toll free help-line (130) at the Highways and the Motorways with a view to facilitate the travelling passengers.
