The rupee on Wednesday managed to gain 10 paisa in relation to the dollar in the open market for buying and selling at 59.75 and 59.85 on better supply of the greenback, dealers said.
The euro shed 10 paisa versus the rupee for buying and selling at Rs 80.80 and Rs 81.10 as the rupee recovered some ground versus the leading currencies in the world markets, they added.
In the Asian trading, the dollar showed slight firmness after sharp rebound in the US consumer confidence, they observed.
INTERBANK RATES: The rupee firmed on balanced demand and supply of the dollar for buying and selling at 59.40 and 59.42, respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee maintained rising tempo, and further appreciated its worth by 15 paisa in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Wednesday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at Rs 59.70 and Rs 59.80 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. In the absence of buying support, the dollar could not sustain its worth, and started declining soon after resumption of trading. At the end, the dollar closed lower at Rs 59.65 and Rs 59.75 on buying and selling counters, respectively, as against Rs 59.80 and Rs 59.90 of Tuesday, the dealers added.
Likewise, the rupee showed strength against the pound sterling. The pound's buying rate further declined from Rs 115.00 to Rs 114.75, while its selling rate fell down to Rs 115.30 from Rs 115.40, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee was up by 10 paisa against the dollar in the open currency market of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 57.70 (buying) and Rs 57.80 (selling) against the last rate of Rs 57.80 (buying) and Rs 57.90 (selling). It did not observe any further change in the last trading hours, and closed at Rs 57.70 (buying) and Rs 57.80 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 114.50 (buying) and Rs 114.60 (selling) against the last rate of Rs 114.30 (buying) and Rs 114.50 (selling). It did not observe any further change in the evening session, and closed at Rs 114.50 (buying) and Rs 114.60 (selling).
