The Director, Trade Organisations (DTO), Ministry of Commerce (MoC), has directed Khwaja Zafar, a candidate of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Managing Committee, representing Pakistan Hardware Merchant Association, to appear before him along with his complaint and supporting documents on Thursday (December 30). He said this in compliance with the order of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, passed on December 24 on the writ petition regarding elections of the FPCCI.
The court directed the DTO to decide Khwaja Zafar's complaint regarding alleged irregularities in the FPCCI elections held in Lahore by December 29.
The MoC, in its letter to Khwaja Zafar, said that on perusal of the record, no formal complaint under the Trade Organisations Ordinance Section 9 appeared to have been filed before the DTO.
"The contents of your complaint, addressed to the FPCCI Returning Officer/Secretary General, are neither specific nor substantiate the allegations."
The court directed the DTO to decide the case on or before December 29, adding: "If for any reason the decision is not made on or before December 29, the scheduled elections shall not be held."
