Iranian Consul General Aqai Muhammad Khudadi has expressed desire for collaboration between the Punjab University and the Iranian universities in biological sciences, art and design and irrigation. He said this during his meeting with the Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood here on Wednesday. Cultural Attache of Cultural Centre of Republic of Iran Aqai Muhammad Raza Aimni Mashahdi and Iranian Consulate Education Co-ordinator Aqai Muhammad Sher Shikar were also present on the occasion.
Both agreed that exchange of delegations would open a new era of co-operation between the universities in the field of irrigation, agriculture, calligraphy, art and science.
They were of the view that study visa procedure should be made easier to accommodate more students of both the countries.
Arshad said that the university had over 20,000 Persian manuscripts and would like to preserve the manuscripts with the help of Iranian universities. The Punjab University would co-operate with Iranian universities in improving curriculum, method of teaching and training facilities for faculty members. The Iranian Consulate General said that there exists bright chances of co-operation between the Iranian and Pakistani universities.
Meanwhile, Punjab University has signed a MoU with Iran's Firdoosi University Mashad and Central Library Aastan-e-Quds Rizvi for exchange of books and experts during a recent visit of Punjab University vice-chancellor to Iran. The Punjab University has signed another student teachers exchange programme MoU with Tehran University's Faculty of Foreign Languages and Teacher Training University. Under the programme the universities of both the countries would share research and exchange students and teachers delegations for improving the educational standards.
