Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal and Minister of State Zahid Hamid have asked the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Chairman to devise an effective strategy for the expansion and enhancement of PIA's market share and revenue base. The Ministers said this while presiding over a joint meeting held in the committee room of the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the PIA Chairman Ahmed Saeed, PIA Director Marketing Syed Kamran Hassan, Additional Secretary Major General Mohammad Ashraf Chaudhry (Retd), Chaudhry Qamar Zaman, and Senior Joint Secretary besides other senior officials of the Ministry of Defence.
According to a press release, the meeting reviewed plans for the replacement of Fokker Aircraft which would help a lot to facilitate the people of remote and backward areas.
The meeting also reviewed the overall performance of the national flag carrier and discussed various strategies pertaining to the further improvement of domestic and international flights operations of PIA.
The PIA Chairman made a detailed briefing about the financial performance and the future challenges being faced by the Airlines.
He apprised the ministers of steps taken by the management of the PIA for making it an efficient and profitable organisation.
