Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Wednesday that there was interfaith harmony in Pakistan and the minorities have equal rights. He was talking to Lord Michael Nazir Ali, Lord Bishop of Rochester who called on him at Prime Minister's House. Shaukat Aziz said Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and there was no room for discrimination on the basis of religion, race or creed.
The Prime Minister said the government has ensured participation of minorities in the democratic institutions by providing them special seats in local governments, provincial and national assemblies and senate.
