Hyundai Motor America, moved up 8 rankings from last year and finished in a tie for second place in the most recent J D Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS) conducted in the USA. Hyundai Motor America has been declared as the most improved company in the 2004 IQS Corporate Ranking, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
In the IQS Nameplate Ranking, Hyundai is also the most improved nameplate with an improvement of 29 percent, moving from 23rd position in 2003 up to 7th position in 2004, the release added.
It further stated the Hyundai Sonata midsize sedan is named the 2004 Award recipient in the J D Power and Associates IQS for having the highest initial quality in the entry midsize car category, the release said.
In the entry level Sport Utility Vehicle segment, the Hyundai Santa Fe finished in 2nd place whereas, the Hyundai Accent stood 2nd place in the compact car segment, the release further added that every model in Hyundai's US model line-up is now ranked above industry average in IQS.
Over the past five years, the release said, Hyundai has improved in IQS ranking at a rate that is double the industry average, it said that in the study of problems per 100 vehicles, Hyundai has shown an improvement of 50% whereas the industry in general has improved by 23% only. When measured by nameplate, Hyundai has improved by 62 percent over the past five years and is now ranked well above the industry average, the release said.-PR
