The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has directed all its wings to place all SROs, circulars and notifications timely on the website to facilitate the business community, tax consultants and chartered accounts firms. In this regard, the CBR referred to board-in-council decision whereby all notifications should be placed on the CBR website without any delay and information should be timely communicated to print and electronic media.
The directive added that all members of the board should ensure all SROs, etc, were sent to Member, FATE, on the date of issuance for placing on the website.
However, it would be a challenging task for CBR chairman Abdullah Yusuf to convince the customs budget wing, whose notifications, customs general orders and amended SROs, are rarely available to the industry and trade.
Even after 15 or 20 days of issuance of SROs by the customs budget wing, it has never been communicated to the media or placed on website.
Tax practitioners complained here on Thursday that no SROs regarding tariff concessions between Saarc-member states under the South Asian Preferential Trade Agreement (Sapta) is available on the CBR website. These notifications are issued by the customs budget wing.
