Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Thursday approved deferment of debt-serving to the extent of Rs one billion for the current financial year for Balochistan on the request of its Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousaf. The Chief Minister Balochistan called on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister Secretariat and requested budgetary support.
They also discussed the on-going development schemes in Balochistan and the Prime Minister called for speeding up the work while ensuring that the quality is not compromised.
They also noted the recent spell of rains in Balochistan, breaking the long dry spell and hoped it would help the farmers, many of whom had lost their farms, following years of drought.
"The rains are a blessing of the Almighty and will help the farming community in reviving their farms and orchards," Prime Minister said.
The Chief Minister said many small dams have started filling after the recent rains.
The CM Balochistan thanked the Prime Minister for the development projects, particularly the improvement of communication infrastructure, which he said, will go a long way in ushering in prosperity to the province.
He noted that with the huge grants by the Federal government for new roads, repair of existing roads network, copper and zinc mines are being developed. Together with the Gwadar port the job opportunities would multiply and economic activity increase.
