As many as 80,899 outdoor patients were provided diagnostic and treatment facilities at the TB Hospital Faisalabad and its two clinics during last one year period while 833 patients were admitted in the Hospital where they were provided with free treatment and medicine facilities.
This was stated here on Thursday by District Anti-TB Association President Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz Latif Advocate while presiding over the associations' executive body & general house meetings which among others were also attended by Farrukh Hassan Khawaja, Chaudhry Muhammad Shareef Mumtaz, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, Hakeem Sultan Ahmed Daudi, Mian Javed Iqbal, Siddique Kasana, Naeem Dastgir Khan and other concerned.
The meeting was informed during the period from 1st December, 2003 to 30th November, 2004, as many as 28,229 new patients and 52,670 old patients were provided treatment facilities.
Out of these 46,126 patients suffered from TB while 6,544 patients suffered from other diseases. During the period 32,823 laboratory test were carried out at the Hospital and 10,099 X-rays were snapped.
The Association Senior Vice President Farrukh Hassan Khawaja said that the construction of a latest laboratory block, out patients block and office block was under serious consideration so as to provide additional facilities to the patients and generating added resources for their treatment.
During the session last year working and accounts reports were presented before the house, which were approved unanimously. Association President Nawaz Latif thanked the philanthropists for their donations and contributions.
He particularly thanked Sh. Ishfaque Ahmed and Haji Zahoor-ud-Din for provision of X-ray plant through the Rotary Club, Farrukh Hassan Khawaja for construction of Dark Room, Raza Nasrullah Ghumman for providing Rs 10,000 per month for the last three years and Mansha Mohsin Dosani and Khan Company for providing audit facilities free of charge.
The meeting was informed that in addition to the two specialist doctors, services of another has also been hired for ensuring availability of a doctor at the Hospital during the night time as well. Moreover renowned specialists Dr Khalid Latif was also performing voluntary check-up of the patients at the Hospital for two hours daily.
The meeting was informed that the 80 bedded hospital would eventually be extended to the capacity of a 200 bedded hospital with the availability of additional resources.
The meeting was further informed that the provision of treatment and free medicines to the TB patients under the DOTS programme would start from 1st February in Faisalabad with the collaboration of the private resources in health sector. Two of hospital doctors Dr Najam Hussain and Mahmud Latif have already completed their training for the purpose.
The meeting decided to launch a campaign for generation of additional resources for the hospital by approaching the donors for the purpose.
Association President Nawaz Latif said that the donations made for the hospital were exempt from payment of income tax and said that this may serve as an additional incentive for the intending donors.
