On the eve of the New Year, the Sindh police have decided to continue the state of red alert in Karachi and other parts of the province. A statement here on Thursday said that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kamal Shah, has issued directives to this effect to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Karachi and regional police officers of Hyderabad and Sukkur.
In view of Friday on December 31, the ISP also directed the police to remain on high alert and carry out snap checking as precautionary measures and ensure deployment of police personnel at mosques, Imambargahs and Madressah.
Issuing directives in connection with the new year eve, the IGP pointed out that fireworks and aerial firing between the nights of December 31 and January 1, not only cause disturbance to the citizens but also result in loss of lives and property.
Therefore, he directed, it be made sure that such things do not happen. Action should be taken against those elements involved in such activities.
The IGP further directed that those, who come to the recreational places should not be harassed by the police.
He also directed the DIG traffic to take action against those who are riding motorcycles without silencers or with more than one pillion riders.
