Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro has emphasised the need of encouraging the art as well as the artists as part of creativity and constructive activity. He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the paintings exhibition of Ms Samiah Faridi here on Wednesday evening. As many as 63 paintings have been put on display at the exhibition, which will continue till January 14 at the Momart Art Gallery.
The work has been executed in mixed media as well as in oil and etching.
The Senate Chairman said that Samiah Faridi has emerged as an established artist through her hard work in the field.
He also praised the talent, creativity as well as the distinct ideas of Samiah.
Pakistan's former High Commissioner to Britain, Abdul Kader Jaffer, introduced the artist on the occasion.
He said that over the years Samiah Faridi has improved her artistic skills very immensely.
Jaffar was of the view that the art and culture help enhance the image of the country in the comity of nations.
The artist Samiah Faridi presented the vote of thanks on the occasion.
