Please refer to the letter of Dilawar Khan, appearing in your newspaper on December 23 regarding the sales tax auditor. It is correct to say that all claims of transparency by the sales tax auditors are wrong. The very purpose of the sales tax audit is to create an environment of fear and to blackmail the person being audited with the threat of creating big bogus sales tax arrears demands.
The Central Board of Revenue should form a committee where everybody can approach with proofs of the wrong doings of sales tax auditors.
A few months back the Central Board of Revenue suspended the audit for six months for sales tax matters.
It is requested to kindly extend the limit to 2 years for audit as the business community is suffering losses and paying less taxes as auditors demand a lot of money.
I hope the Government and the Central Board of Revenue will look into the grievances of the business community.
