Every year new calendar gives us a thought-provoking thing that the past never comes again, says Dr Abdul Wahab, former vice-chancellor Karachi University & President, M A Jinnah University, on Friday. He was speaking at an inauguration ceremony of PharmEvo-2005 calendar exhibition held at the Arts Council Karachi.
Dr Wahab said: "Arts and literature affect the human personality. They change thinking and living standard. He said: "Distrust is increasing day by day and it is better to light a candle than to curse darkness."
He praised the PharmEvo's efforts in bringing out such calendars, which are based on poetry and are related to paintings.
Haroon Qasim, managing director PharmEvo, presented his welcome address.
He said: "PharmEvo is known as a professionally managed pharmaceutical company for manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceutical products since its inception in 1999. Since then, we have come a long way with many brands in the market."
He said: "PharmEvo has always played an active role in stimulating the people's interest in books and helped inculcate in them the reading habit."
"Our philosophy is to promote concept of the 'overall health' of the people rather than just physical healthcare," he said, adding, "in the context of corporate citizenship and social responsibilities, PharmEvo has been carrying out innumerable activities for the development of healthier society."
Anique Ahmed, secretary Arts Council of Karachi also addressed on the occasion. He urged the philanthropists to establish at least one library in all 18 Towns of Karachi.
Leading artistes, poets, intellectuals, media & NGO's representative attended the function.
