Federal Minister for Health Muhammad Naseer Khan has said the government is going to launch an expanded programme for elimination of the malaise of Hepatitis-B, Hepatitis-C, AIDS and all other water borne and air borne diseases. While addressing the inaugural ceremony of expanded dental section of the Lahore University College of Dentistry here on Saturday, Naseer Khan said this is huge programme, which is being implemented in every nook and corner of the country. Human resource development is an important policy initiative, as healthy individuals can participate in nation building tasks with ease and comfort, he added.
He appreciated the Ibadat Educational Trust for making remarkable beginning in the education sector. The government is committed to bring economic salvation to the country, reduce poverty and make Pakistan a land of opportunities for all segments of the society, he added. He also emphasised the need for expanding public private partnership in professional education.
Highlighting the importance of medical education, he threw light on the policy of government in support of such private groups, which are genuinely rendering service for the welfare of the people of Pakistan. He assured the University of Lahore that the government would provide all out help for improving health facilities.
The government is taking necessary steps for expanding health facilities, both in the primary and tertiary delivery systems in Pakistan. He said the government is committed to make maximum financial and human inputs in the improvement of social sector. Presently, both health and education are the priority areas for the government, he added. The objective of the government is to alleviate poverty, improve environmental conditions, and provide more opportunities to the talented youth to undertake higher education at a reasonable cost.
