Necessary arrangements are being finalised for converting Sialkot-Wazirabad road into dual-way costing Rs 1 billion and development work on this mega-project would be executed soon. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Saturday that the completion of the project would not only improve the flow of traffic but also ensure speedy handling of exportable consignments from Sialkot Dry Port (SDP).
The conversion of Sialkot-Wazirabad road would play an instrumental role in bringing big boom in exports because Sialkot dry port was successfully functioning on this track and catering the need of entire Gujranwala division.
Besides, the Sialkot Export Processing Zone (SEPZ) had also been established on the same track while this road would also help in approaching to Sialkot International Airport in a speedy and comfortable way.
The government has taken the step on the pressing demand of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
The completion of this mega-project would surely open a new era of prosperity and rapid industrial development on this section.
It may be pointed that currently the industrialisation programme on Sialkot-Wazirabad has been halted in Sialkot Export Processing Zone (SEPZ) and other parts because of poor condition of road.
