A four-member Canadian delegation, led by Canada's BBI International and Biofuels President Mike Bryan, called on Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon here on Monday, and discussed with him matters pertaining to promoting alternate resources of energy in Pakistan. Welcoming the delegation, the minister said the government was actively focusing on using the alternate resources of energy in order to reduce oil imports dependence, adding the government was also making all out efforts to exploit the untapped oil and gas resources for the socio-economic benefits of the country.
Jadoon said an attractive package was also being offered to the investors in the oil and gas offshore and onshore exploration, adding, at present, the country is self-sufficient in motor gasoline and exporting its surplus.
The government is also promoting the CNG as an alternate fuel as replacement of gasoline, adding that 'policy to replace diesel is under consideration.'
He invited the Canadian investment in the oil and gas, bio-fuel and bio-diesel sectors.
The Canadian BBI president briefed the minister about his Company's involvement in the alternate fuels, and expressed the desire to develop ethanol and bio-diesel forms of renewal energy for Pakistan.
He said the Canadian company has an experience in conducting feasibility studies and business plans for bio-fuels projects, including ethanol and bio-diesel.
Petroleum Secretary Ahmed Waqar, Joint Secretary (dev) Razi Abbas, HDIP Director General Hilal A. Raza, and the members of the Canadian delegation were also present during the meeting.
