The Swiss franc was flat against the dollar and the euro on Wednesday, after the Swiss National Bank said in the previous session it was too soon to call its next interest rate decision. SNB board member Philipp Hildebrand on Tuesday said the bank would need more economic data before taking a stance on whether or not it will raise rates in March. The dollar last changed hands at 1.1817/20 francs, compared to 1.1764/70 late on Tuesday in Europe.
The greenback slipped on remarks by European Central Bank economist Otmar Issing on Tuesday that the adjustment of exchange rates had gone too far in Europe and that Asia must do its share.
