Brigadier Zafar Iqbal (Rtd), Joint Education Advisor at the Federal Ministry of Education has said that Sindh Madressatul Islam (SMI) will be developed in accordance with its status of being the alma mater of the Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. During his visit to the SMI on Friday the advisor said, SMI is an exemplary educational institute of Pakistan, which has fulfilled intellectual needs of the country since its inception in 1885.
Brigadier Zafar maintained that SMI and SM College would be unified as SM Science College was established as a part of the Sindh Madressah and it exists within the same boundary.
He was of the view that by keeping the needs of the country of forthcoming ten years in mind scientific education is very important for younger generation.
He appreciated the establishment of Teachers Training Center in the Madressah and said that training of the subject teachers is must for quality education.
The advisor along with the Principal of SMI, Muhammad Ali Shaikh visited various sections of the Madressah including Fine Arts Gallery, Jinnah Museum, Science laboratories, Computer Center and T.H. Vince Library.
He impressed very much by observing the pictorial history of the Sindh Madressah and old educational system in Sindh, composed by a teacher and an artist Hafiz Qasmani.
Earlier, Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Principal, SMI briefed Brigadier Zafar Iqbal about the history and presented an academic and administrative structure of the Madressah.
The principal, in his presentation, explained the role of the Sindh Madressah, it played in the quality education as well as in the creation of Pakistan.
Shaikh also mentioned the constructive role of Sindh Madressah, through its old students, played in the various sectors.
