National Centre for Physics will be fully equipped with international level atomic accelerator, experimental nuclear lab and high tech vacuum lab, which will be helpful in providing modern training and research facilities to our scientists engaged in nuclear studies. This was stated by renowned Nuclear Scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand while speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the 10th National Symposium on "Frontiers of Physics" held here at the Government College University on Friday.
"We put forth a vision for the advancement of Physics in Pakistan at the National Centre for Physics (NCP). Apart from experimental nuclear physics lab, there will be a computer science facility," he added.
He stressed upon the young physicists and scientists to conduct target oriented fundamental research. "We are not complacent with the achievements we have made so far, and Pakistan is all set to take up all future challenges. He urged upon the senior scientists to channelise the energies of young scientists.
Vice-Chancellor GCU Lahore, Professor Dr Khalid Aftab in his presidential address said that all out efforts and resources are being mobilised to promote research in all fields in general and in physics in particular. 'We are modernising our centre of advanced studies in physics by providing latest instruments', he added.
Pakistan Physics Society President, G. Murtaza said that the GC University Lahore is providing nursery of physicists to the reputed national organisations like NESCOM. Dr Kamal-ud-Din Ahmed, Dr Shoaib Ahmad, Dr Sergei Borisenok, Dr A.S. Bhatti and Dr John H. Weaver also spoke on the occasion.
