Arabica coffee futures dipped Friday as speculators and funds took profits ahead of a long holiday weekend, traders said. "It was pretty quiet. We saw some scale-down roaster buying and some weekend profit-taking," said a trader at a large brokerage. The New York Board of Trade's March contract slid 1.0 cent to settle at 100.10 cents a lb., with intraday trading ranging from 99.60 to 100.75 cents.
The May contract likewise dipped 1.0 cent to 102.35 cents and further deliveries declined 0.95 to 1.00 cent amid total estimated futures trading volume of 8,239 lots. Official futures volume fetched 14,098 lots the previous session.
