To promote refreshment facilities and hotel industry in Islamabad, Capital Development Authority has planned to construct McDonald's outlet in Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park. Interior Minister, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao will be the chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony on January 27. In this connection, capital's civic body and Siza Food signed an agreement here on Friday in the presence of Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari at the CDA Headquarters.
DG Environment, Mazhar Hussain and Siza Food Chief Executive Amin Muhammad Lakhani inked the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the agreement, CDA will provide nearly 10 kanals of land (approximately 6,000 yards) for the restaurant purely on lease basis for a period of 33 years.
However, the authority would charge about Rs 275,000 per month from McDonald's Ltd for next 33 years. In addition the Siza Food has principally agreed to develop a world class amusement park at an area of five acres of land adjacent to the venue, where the McDonald's restaurant is being built.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamran Lashari said that the decision to construct park and restaurant at F-9 Park would go a long way to facilitate the entertainment-starved residents of the federal capital. He said that federal government has also directed the civic body to undertake more developmental projects to benefit common man.
Lashari announced that CDA is planning to start more projects in the F-9 Park to promote sports and recreational activities in Islamabad.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held here with Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari in the chair to review the overall development plan of new sectors particularly I-14, I-15, I-16, D-12 and E-12.
However, he issued orders to the concerned departments of the authority to immediately start development work at the sites in order to generate more housing units in the federal capital to facilitate low-income groups.
It is to mention here that Prime Minister during a cabinet meeting two months back had asked the CDA and housing foundation to open at least five new sectors in Islamabad to alleviate the accommodation problem of poor people.
CDA has also finalised a 'package deal' with the victims of D-12 and E-12 to begin the development work on these sites.
Member administration, member finance, member planning and member engineering also attended the meeting.
