Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) Director General Brigadier Chaudhry Pervez Akhtar on Saturday said it was heartening to note that large number of youngsters from under developed areas of Sindh and Balochistan were joining Pakistan Coast Guards and other maritime security agencies to serve motherland.
"I'll ask people from all four provinces of the county to joint Pakistan Coast Guards so that it become an organisation having representation from all parts of the country," he said while speaking at passing out parade ceremony at PCG Training Wing Korangi Karachi.
Some 150 personnel of coast guards took part in passing out parade on completion of their training. Majority of these personnel was selected from Balochistan and Sindh for induction into PCG.
He said prevention of smuggling, protection of coastal boarders during war times, besides anti-terrorist activities were parts of PCG duties, and it had successfully performed its responsibilities during peace and war days.
"In past, our personnel performed their responsibilities with utmost dedication and sense of responsibility and foiled designs of anti-Pakistan forces," he said adding that it is hoped such performance would be made in future too.
He said during duty, PCG officials and Jawans would have to remain in touch with common people and advised them to deal common people with respect and professional approach to boost the image of force.
Earlier, he took salute from passing out contingents of PCG and also presented prizes and awards to those who performed extraordinarily during the training.
A large number of PCG officials, civil and military bureaucrats and family members of passing out Jawans were also present on the occasion.
