The federal government has decided to establish a Textile College and Textile test laboratory in Sialkot in near future, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA) North Zone Chairman Arshad Javed Sandal said here on Saturday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of a four-day training course arranged jointly by Pakistan Knitwear Training Institute and Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association Sialkot here he said that the setting up of textile college and testing laboratory in this export-oriented city would help reduce the multifarious problems being confronted by the hosiery manufacturers of Sialkot.
Arshad Sandal lauded the step taken by the government for setting up of college and laboratory and said that government has taken the decision keeping in view the pressing demands of the hosiery manufacturers of Sialkot. The functioning of college would not only produce skill and trained forces but also help the manufacturers in improving standard and quality of products Arshad Javed said.
The PHMA chairman said that Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) was finalising feasibility report of the project and hopefully the report would be presented to the government in a short span of time. He said that PHMA Sialkot would arrange more training courses to facilitate the manufacturers of Sialkot and its adjoining areas.
This four-day training, which is first of its kind in Sialkot, would help the manufacturers to update their knowledge and techniques, he said. A large number of hosiery manufacturers, production managers and supervisors attended the training course.
