Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh has said military operation is not the solution of any dispute and the government should tackle the Balochistan issue through political means. Addressing a news conference at the Peoples Secretariat here on Sunday, the PPP Sindh President and former chief minister the province Syed Qaim Ali Shah said had there been a political government in the country, the situation would not have been the worst to such an extent.
"The Balochistan issue has become very sensitive," he said, adding, "the government should take immediate steps in this regard to solve the problem."
"The rulers themselves should go to Balochistan to listen to the
people's grievances and the people of Balochistan should be given their due rights," he said.
Commenting on the performance of the committee constituted to review the Balochistan issue, he said, "committees are formed to delay the problems and committees can not solve any problem." The government should start dialogue with the political forces of the country, he added.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Balochistan, he said, "the PPP will continue its support for the rights of the people of Balochistan and other small provinces." He said that the Sindh government has totally failed to maintain the law and order situation in the province.
NEW DISTRICTS: "The creation of new districts is an 'ill will' of the government and the people, belonging to different Talukas, are being made enemies of each other." Supporting the proposal of the District Nazim Hyderabad, he said, "city district government comprising 17 towns can be set up there as suggested by the Nazim."
To a query, he said the movement against the government is going on from the ARD platform. "We are holding rallies against the government in different cities of the country, which will continue till restoration of the real democracy."
About the ARD public meeting in Sargodha, held few days back, he said it was the continuation of the movement. He condemned the government for launching an FIR against the organisers of the public meeting in Sargodha.
