The country is heading towards anarchy and civil war due to ill-conceived policies of the present regime and military government had opened a number of fronts in southern Waziristan and Balochistan, politicians should adopt unanimous strategy to meet the situation otherwise it would have serious repercussions, said Naheed Khan, MNA political Secretary to Benazir Bhutto while talking to newsmen at the residence of Malik Salahuddin Dogar Ex-Mayor on Sunday.
Dr Safdar Abbasi was also with her. She held the General Pervez Musharraf government responsible for the prevailing situation in Balochistan because it did not take Nawab Akbar Bugti into confidence and culprits involved in gangrape on a lady doctor Shazia were neither arrested nor a case was registered against them.
Instead of providing justice to the victim, government sent troops to Sui for operation. Now house to house search in progress and people are being humiliated and killed. Bitterly criticising the statement of General Pervez Musharraf, She said that Balochs were being threatened for dire consequences and he used objectionable language about the patriotic Balochs.
She said that PPPP wanted to see the federation strong and prosperous and it demands to restitute the usurped rights of the provinces but present government could not satisfy the provinces on water distribution, National Finance Commission award, Provincial autonomy etc.
She said that war cannot be imposed on Balochs because war was not a solution of the problem and this situation must be resolved through dialogues.
She welcomed the proposal of Jamhoori Watan Party to summon an All Parties Conference on Balochistan issue and said that All political forces should find a solution of Balochistan problem. She said that Judges and Wapda men were kidnapped, two judges are still in the custody of kidnappers and law enforcing agencies failed to protect the life and dignity of the Judges.
She said that government was handling the Gilgit situation childishly and it had created a state of terror and harassment in the area.
Residents are facing severe food autarky and investigation of murder of Agha Ziauddin was not being done in proper way and affectees were not being taken into confidence.
Dr Safdar Abbasi was optimistic that General Elections would surely be held in current year (2005) because present regime had destroyed all institutions including Judiciary and armed forces. He said that only one man was ruling the country because Parliament was paralysed, politicians were being forced to change their loyalties or face the imprisonment.
Now change is inevitable. He bitterly criticised the policies of present government.
