Some essentials registered rise on the wholesale commodity markets during the week ended on January 15, 2005. The prices of wheat, sugar and gram recorded gains significantly while other commodities registered modest rise and following to Eidul Azha celebrations, dealers said. The wheat Mexi Pak old and new both rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1190, and better to Rs 1200, Tuver Sindh and Punjab was quoted at Rs 1938. Cotton cakes with bag was higher by Rs 5 to Rs 400. 405, rapeseed Nawabshah was quoted at Rs 800.
KIRANA ITEMS FLUCTUATED BOTH WAYS WITH FOLLOWING CHANGES RECORDED: White pepper down Rs 100 to Rs 7800, mace up quoted at Rs 2640, nutmeg up Rs 200 to Rs 10,600, cloves up Rs 200 to Rs 11000, dry ginger lost Rs 365 to Rs 7650, Isbaghol bhoosi shed Rs 150 to Rs 7850, darchini down Rs 50 to Rs 2700, and corianderseed up Rs 100 to Rs 1200.
Mexi wheat rose by Rs 80 to Rs 1200, Juwar inferior gained Rs 50 to Rs 950, better unchanged at Rs 1100, guwar all stations inferior lost Rs 15 to Rs 1700, and better up Rs 10 to Rs 1775, cotton cakes gained Rs 5 to Rs 405/410.
Chemicals showed following variations caustic soda flakes Saudi up Rs 2 to Rs 32, Sodium Sulphate up Re 1 to Rs 12.50, N.J. Taiwan down Rs 5 to Rs 130, Germany's up Re 1 to Rs 160, Oxalic acid China down Re 1 to Rs 46. Hydrosulphite China 88pc down Re 1 to Rs 59, Germany's up Rs 3 to Rs 71 and acetic acid Taiwan up Re 1 to Rs 85.
Wheat Mexipak both old and new gained Rs 10 to Rs 1200 and Rs 1210, bajra low kind up Rs 50 to Rs 1375, and better type stayed put at Rs 1525. Sugar maintaining surge rose afresh by Rs 50 to Rs 2270-2300, Gur inferior type shed Rs 50 to Rs 2200, and better kind stayed put at Rs 2300.
Mixed pattern was seen in plastic mouldings such as HDPE film Saudia 952 up Rs 1.25 to Rs 38. Mobil up Rs 1.25 to Rs 38, TR 144 up Re 1 to Rs 37.50, HDPE injection Sabic 200056 up Rs 1.50 to Rs 38. Mobil 016 up 75 paisa to Rs 37.75, Thai up 75 paisa to Rs 36.75, HDPE blow Kuwait up Rs 1.75 to Rs 37.75 Marlex up Rs 1.50 to Rs 37.50, Iran up Rs 1.25 to Rs 37.25, LDPE 374 up Rs 2 to Rs 45, LLDPE W118 up Re 1 to Rs 37, 7087 up Re 1 to Rs 39, Sabic 500026 up Rs 3 to Rs 53, polypropylene film Thai up 50 paisa to Rs 38.50, India up 50 paisa to Rs 38.50 polypropylene tape grade up 88 paisa to Rs 37.25, Kuwait up 88 paisa to Rs 37.25, Saudia up 88 paisa to Rs 37.25, polypropylene injection grade Saudia up 75 paisa to Rs 37.75.
Kuwait up Rs 1.25 to Rs 38, polystyrene BASF up Rs 150 to Rs 31.50, Copoly Block down 25 paisa to Rs 41.75, Randon down Re 1 to Rs 43, ABS polylac 707 quoted at Rs 2775 and Khumo quoted at Rs 2730, cotton cakes shed Rs 20 for both types at Rs 245 and Rs 250.
FRIDAY'S: Tuver Punjab and Sindh gained sharply by Rs 124 to Rs 2062, Bajra's lower type up Rs 75 to Rs 1400 and the quality was higher quoted at Rs 1525, sugar maintained surge as it gained further by Rs 40 to Rs 1400/2340.
TEA PRICES WERE MIXED: Kenyan PF-1 A grade up Re 1 to Rs 170, B grade up Rs 8 to Rs 160, plus C grade up Re 1 to Rs 136, Bangladesh's garden Pack original up Rs 2 to Rs 100, Gulab up Rs 2 to Rs 102, Khushbu up Rs 3 to Rs 98, Garden Pack/BOP up Rs 6 to Rs 100, Indonesian PF-1 Good A up Rs 2 to Rs 142 and Good A down Rs 2 to Rs 140.
SATURDAY'S SESSION WITNESSED LISTLESS TRADING: on the grain market as guwar inferior type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1725 and best quality did not any change at Rs 1775.
