Two militants die while planting bombs

Two militants were killed by their own bomb early Tuesday while planting it by the roadside near the Afghan border, an official said. Paramilitary troops found the bodies of two men in Makin, a town in the South Waziristan tribal zone which is known as a former stronghold of al Qaeda-linked rebels, the security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
The pair died as they left the timed explosive device on a road used by government and military vehicles and by the head of a tribal committee which negotiates with the government, he said. The troops also found a Kalashnikov assault rifle, timers and hand grenades at the blast site, where the men who looked like "foreigners" were found dead at around 4.00 am.
