Punjab Medical Teachers Association (PMTA) has praised the Punjab government's efforts for the uplift of health sector. A resolution to this effect was adopted in a meeting of the office bearers and executive members of the association held here at King Edward Medical College (KEMC) Lahore.
The meeting also acknowledged the efforts of Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javaid. The Association felt the positive approach of health minister would resolve the problems being faced by the medical profession people.
The meeting, through another resolution regarding recent changes in the promotion rules of civil servants, said medical teachers were professionals and their recruitment and promotion was guided by the rules of PMDC. We hoped already practised and well-accepted system would not be changed because that would seriously disturb the career of medical teachers, otherwise. We feel, if at all it was considered necessary for somebody, solid reasons should be given publicly and after the expiry of extension period, performance of the persons should be evaluated once again. Extension seriously affected the promotion of government officials and caused discouragement among the working officers," the meeting held.
The meeting also expressed sorrow on the demise of Professor M Hayat Zafar and the mother of Professor Zafarullah Chaudhry. The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.
