Commander-in-Chief of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General Endriatono Sutarto visited Pakistan's Field Hospital in Latnno on Sunday morning. Sutarto greatly appreciated the efforts of Pakistani doctors in providing the basic outdoor and indoor medical facilities to the affected people of Lamno. In his statement, he said, the Indonesian people were thankful to the people of Pakistan and President General Pervez Musharraf for extending this generous assistance to Indonesia during this hard time.
"The efforts of Pakistan Army troops in relief tasks will be remembered by the Indonesian people in golden words," he said.
"This well in time and generous support will further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two brotherly countries," Sutarto added.
He was accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff, Indonesian Army and Major General Bang, the Relief Task Force commander.
Sutarto expressed confidence that the Pakistan army had showed strong commitment to collaborate in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the devastated areas.
It may be mentioned here that the Pakistan Army Relief Task Force is actively participating in multinational relief tasks in Indonesia.
Earlier, the efforts of the Pakistani task force have been greatly appreciated by Major General Bang Bong, Chief Coordinator Relief Works for Banda Aceh.
Pakistan field hospital has been established in Lamno, a city situated 60 km south-west from Banda Aceh and district headquarters of Aceh Jaya.
Sixty percent of the population of Lamno was washed away by Tsunami and only 6,000 to 7,000 people could survive after this disaster.
