Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Secretary Information Pakistan Muslim League Senator Tariq Azeem on Wednesday said government has taken practical steps to improve the living standard of common Balochs who were ignored in the past.
In a statement issued here, Senator Tariq Azeem said change can only occur by changing system in Balochistan. Senator Tariq Azeem said for the first time, the present government has taken pragmatic steps to improve infrastructure in Balochistan.
He said sardars and waderas always oppose the development projects in Balochistan only to deprive the common man of basic needs of life. He said the government would ensure writ of the government in Balochistan at all costs.
Senator Tariq Azeem said millions of rupees are given as royalty to Baloch sardars but nothing has been done for the welfare of the people of the area.
He said some Baloch leaders and sardars who are now criticising the government, got many chances and remained in power for many years, but they did nothing for the welfare of the Baloch people.
Tariq Azeem said President General Pervez Musharraf took special initiative to start a number of development projects in Balochistan to improve the infrastructure and provide basic amenities of life to the people of Balochistan particularly those living in remote areas.
He said a special parliamentary committee headed by President Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has been working effectively to resolve the problems in Balochistan through political means.
Senator Tariq Azeem said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and other members of the Committee including PML Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed held meetings with Baloch leaders to listen to their point of views and prepare recommendations for resolving problems in the province.
He dispelled the impression about any operation in Balochistan and said there will be no such thing in future and the law enforcing agencies are only there to protect and defend the gas installations at Sui.
