Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has decided to mark January 28 (Friday) as countrywide protest day against the government policies and a Kashmir solidarity week would be celebrated from February 1. This was decided in a meeting chaired by Abdul Jalil Naqvi, Vice president of MMA Punjab here on Wednesday. The meeting decided that the conglomerate would hold a protest day on Friday to protest the anti-people policies of the government. "Government is changing the Muslim identity of Pakistan by leading nation towards secularism", it stated.
The participants of the meeting have condemned move of the government to remove column of religion from passports and handing over education system of country to Aga Khan Board.
It was decided in the meeting that the alliance would hold a protest rally in Rawalpindi starting from Raja Bazar. Senior leaders of conglomerate would lead the rally and later on address a press conference.
The alliance has decided to celebrate Kashmir solidarity week from February 1 to express solidarity with the struggling Kashmiris and divert world attention towards the Indian suppression in occupied Kashmir. Relief camps would be set up in city for relief of Kashmiri people.
During the Kashmir solidarity week, the MMA would hold seminars, symposiums, demonstrations and rallies in support of Kashmiri people.
On February 5, a big rally would be staged in Islamabad, which would be addressed by senior MMA leaders including Qazi Hussain Ahmed and others.
