Bangladeshi taka at four-week low

The Bangladeshi taka closed at its lowest level since December 31 on Thursday due to robust demand for dollars to pay import bills and despite central bank intervention, dealers said. The taka was quoted at 61.00/63.40 per dollar against 59.99/63.20 on Wednesday. The Central Bangladesh Bank pumped in a substantial amount of dollars through two public banks but that didn't stop the slide of the taka, one dealer said.
