Pakistan Telecommunication Limited has launched its WLL services in twin cities with Rs 500 connection charges and varying prices of 6 and 20 kilometres ranges. Without GST the 6 kilometres phone set price is Rs 2999 and for 20 kilometres the price is Rs 3390. A spokesman of Islamabad Telecom Region said that the company has commenced Wireless Local Loop (WLL) service in its rural areas in the first phase, covering Bahra Kahu Exchange, Islamabad and Westridge Exchange, Rawalpindi with 800 lines and 3000 lines respectively.
The application forms are being issued from the offices of Sub Divisional Engineer Phones, Bahra Kahu, Islamabad and Divisional Engineer Phones, Westridge Exchange for the respective areas.
The special customer services centres have been set up in Bahra Kahu Exchange and Westridge Exchange offices for processing of application forms for WLL service.
In a very near future, the people of F-8 Exchange, Islamabad and Cantt Exchange, Rawalpindi areas will also be included for WLL service.
The connections of Wireless Local Loop with two types of phone sets, one is a hand held set just like a mobile phone set having range up to 6 kilometres and the other one is a desktop set with an antenna having a range up to 20 kilometres.
The 6-km radius range hand held set connection is being given at the payment of Rs 2999/- excluding GST whereas the phone set of 20 kilometres range is provided at Rs 3390/- with rupees 500 for connection charges excluding GST each.
The desired applicants can get connections for anyone or both types by filling special formulated application form enclosed with the photocopy of National Identity Card issued by Nadra.
Wireless Local Loop service is a revolutionary offer of the PTCL with an advantage of wire freedom connection at PTCL rates.
Value-added services such a Calling Line Identification (CLI), Call Forwarding, Call Divert, Call Waiting, Call Barring, Alarm Service, Do Not Disturb and Conference Call are available in PTCL "V" WLL service.
By providing WLL service in Islamabad Telecom Region the teledensity will be increased prominently by reducing pending demand of phone connections for the region, resultantly increasing revenue and profit of the PTCL as well as positive impact on overall telecom sector.
Those who have already applied in Bahra Kahu and Westridge Exchanges will be given preference under this WLL Service.
