Sozo Water Park Jallo will be reopening in the first week of February, as the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has completed 90 percent checking of rides installed at the park. Sozo Water Park Director Sohail Lashari told this while talking to newsmen here on Friday. He said the UET team had thoroughly checked the rides and, on completion of exercise, would issue fitness certificate. Once fitness certificate is issued, we would resume function at the Park and there would be no need to obtain any permission from the City District Government Lahore.
"We registered 50 percent decline of visitors at recreational parks due to sad incident at the Park," he added.
It may be mentioned four school children and a teacher were killed and dozens other injured in the ride collapse incident at Sozo Park. After the incident, the Punjab government had imposed a ban on rides in the province, and fitness certificate was made mandatory for its operation.
