Travel Agents Association of Pakistan (TAAP) has alleged British Airways for violation of business rules. In a press release issued here on Friday, the association adopted the stance that in the larger interest of travel industry and airline business the British Airways had to withdraw its decision. The release referred to a meeting of Region A Travel Trade Committee of the association chaired by the convenor of the committee Hanif Dosani.
Addressing to the meeting, Dosani said the association had already cleared to the airline if any agent defaulted during the boycott campaign, British Airways would be responsible for it and no claim of the airline would be entertained in that connection.
The meeting was basically aimed to clear on the airline that instead of giving priority to their self-interests the travel agents would go to safeguard the interests of travel industry, he pointed out.
He said for making 2 percent reduction in the agency commission, the airline accused the travel agents for violating business rules by splitting the commission. On the other hand, the airline itself violated the rules by offering extremely low fares in the market to create problems for other airlines, he alleged.
He condemned the move from the airline and urged on the airline to withdraw its decision pertaining to the reduction in agency commission. The other members of the committee including Khursheed Alam, Zakaria Sharif, Mehmood Ahmed, Anwer Rasheed and Raees Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
