Pakistan, Sri Lanka Business Council has decided to make joint efforts with the help of businessmen in Sri Lanka to make a solid strategy to help tsunami victims. In a meeting, held under the chairmanship of outgoing president of the council Iftikhar Allahwala, it was decided to provide more help to the victims in Sri Lanka. The office-bearers of the council, including Rais Ashraf Tar Mohammad also attended the meeting.
The council had already sent goods and necessary items for the help of tsunami victims.
The meeting was held to elect office-bearers and members of the managing committee of the Pakistan, Sri Lanka Business Council for 2005-06.
The meeting welcomed the visit of Sri Lankan president to Pakistan, scheduled for February 7. Rais said that they were making efforts to devise a strategy with the consultation of the Sri Lankan president.
In the meantime, Abdul Rahim Janoo, M. Jawed Tarmohammed, Ashraf Tabani, Naeem Paracha, Khwaja Saboor, Chaudhry M. Asif and Abdul Rauf Parekh were elected as president, senior vice president, vice president (Sindh), vice president (Balochistan), vice president (NWFP), vice president (Punjab) and general secretary, respectively.
Saleem Lala, Sohail A. Wahab, M. Ilyas A. Aziz, A. Rauf Chappal, Waseemur Rehman, Wahid Seikhani, Ashfaq Munshi, A. Razzak Bantva, Syed Zulfiqar Rizvi, Mansoor Ali, Hanif Lucky, Hanif Lakhani, A. Hafeez Bhalla, Iftikhar Allahwala, A. Rauf Aziz, A. Ghaffar Mehndiwala, A. Waheed A. Majeed, Mumtaz Ahmed, Danish, Ilyas A. Majeed, Nirmal Das, Siddique Bhai Karachi Tea, M. Hassan Ali Vista, Zafar Parekh and Tanveer Ahmed were elected as the members of the managing committee.
