The Speaker of National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said that forthcoming local bodies elections would be held on scheduled date and time in the country. The local bodies elections at districts and tehsil level would be held on party basis while at union council level the held on non-party basis.
Talking to reporters at newly established Central Office of Pakistan Muslim League on Sunday here he added that current local bodies system was playing an instrumental role in resolving the peoples problems at their doorstep besides help removing the backwardness from the ignored and far-off areas of the country.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that only honest, experienced and educated persons would be able to run the district and tehsil affairs easily. The Pakistan Muslim League would be made more effective and its membership would be increased and for this purpose the membership drive has been initiated in the country he said. In Sialkot district, the membership process has already been completed in 74 union councils while this process would be accomplished in remaining 48 union councils in couple of weeks he disclosed.
Replying to a question the speaker reiterated that all-important installations would be protected for the larger national interest adding that the blasting and damaging of Sui gas pipeline had caused huge financial loss to the country. Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that nobody would be allowed to create law and order situation and damaging national assets for the personal gains adding that no military operation was being carried out in Balochistan. To another question he said that huge funds were being spent on banishing the backwardness and on the completion many mega projects in Balochistan despite of this some elements were creating hurdles in the development process being carried out Balochistan.
Answering to a question the speaker said that the completion of Gwadar port would open new vistas of prosperity and industrial development in the Balochistan adding that regular functioning of the port would generate wide opportunities of employment for the local people.
The National Assembly speaker stressed the need of forging complete unity among the ranks for crushing the anti-Pakistan lobbies which were creating obstacles in the process of development in the country.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain also urged upon the people that they should demonstrate complete sectarian harmony and unity during fast approaching the month of Muharram.
