The Punjab government has recovered a sizeable amount of over Rs 2.8 million through open auction of attractive registration marks of vehicles for LZL series here on Monday. The auction took place at the office of Motor Registering Authority, Lahore under the supervision of Director Excise & Taxation Region-C, Lahore, Chaudhry Masood ul Haq and Superintendent, Excise & Taxation Department, Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem.
Sources said here that a large number of people actively participated in the process in which as many as 136 attractive registration marks of LZL series were put to auction.
The highest bid of Rs 400,000 was received for LZL-1, which is a record all over the province. LZL-786 fetched Rs 80,000 LZL-2 Rs 65,000, LZL-3 Rs 47,000, LZL-4 Rs 25,000, LZL-5 Rs 91,000, LZL-6 Rs 45,000, LZL-7 Rs 82,000, LZL-8 Rs 56,000, LZL-9 Rs 72,000,LZL-10 Rs 18,000,LZL-11 Rs 35,000, and LZL-16 was sold at Rs 46,000.
The sources claimed that wide publicity was made throughout the provincial metropolis before holding of public auction of attractive numbers of LZL series. They said that this time an additional amount of Rs 1.1 million was received, as compared to previous auction of LZK series. They said Director E&T Region-C Lahore, Chaudhry Masood ul Haq made special efforts to make the auction process a great success.
The sources also claimed that the provincial government is fetching millions of rupees through open auction of attractive registration marks, and during the last two years, the government had recovered record revenue of around Rs 90 million through open auction of attractive registration marks for which credit goes to Secretary Excise & Taxation, Punjab, Sami Saeed and Director General E&T Punjab, Khawaja Shamail, who ensured transparency and openness in the auction process.
