The NWFP Science & Technology and Information Technology Department has formally launched Online Hospital Management from the Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, Online Litigation Management and Case Tracking System of Service Tribunal Peshawar and computerisation of police department from Swat District at a cost of Rs 49 million in the first phase, and after successful completion of these projects that would be replicated throughout the province.
This was told to the Provincial Minister for Information Technology Hussain Ahmad Kanju in a presentation given by the Secretary IT Amjad Shahid Afridi at Hayatabad Peshawar on Thursday. Project Director IT Muhammad Sarwar Gondal and concerned officers of the department were also present on this occasion.
Secretary IT while giving detail of future plan of his department, informed the Minister that computerisation of all the educational boards and Textbook Board Peshawar, Online Help Desk on finance, accounting, and planning rules and procedures, quick response facilitation service to public, government servants and MPAs, setting up of a model computerised revenue Kanoongoi, High Court, Supreme Court and Provincial Assembly computerisation, movement of office files/documents, issue tracking and government human resource data base were the major future projects of his department and work on those was in progress.
He was further told the department has already launched NWFP Web Portal and Internet facilities for the provincial government. Similarly, establishment of computer labs in government institutions and introduction of IT education from school to university level was also in the pipeline.
The minister, in his brief address, said the MMA government was serious in providing good governance and transparent system in the province saying for the purpose huge amounts had been earmarked in the provincial budget. He further said the government was seriously considering linking the promotion and appointment of government employees to IT literacy.
