Condemning the hike in diesel and petrol prices, the leaders of National Transport Ittehad (NIT), Karachi, have threatened to discontinue their business. An association of 18 transport organisations, in a statement on Thursday asked the government to make its own arrangements for transport facilities to the masses, as it had become impossible for the transporters to continue their business.
NIT Chairman Salim Khan Bangash and other leaders Raja Muhammad Rafiq, Haji Pir Khan Afridi, Haji Lala Sultan Khan, Nazir Hussain Utmanzai, Taj Khan Bangash and others, in a joint statement, said the transporters were already facing hardships due to hike in prices of petroleum products and consequently in daily commodities. They were of the view that due to this hike, the transporters and the masses were in trouble and the government was not ready to pay heed to their grievances.
The transporters said they would neither observe any other strike nor demand increase in transport fares, rather they would just announce ending their business.
