Nissan Motor Co Ltd on Friday announced launching of its new range of automobiles with the release of four models in Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference vice-president Marketing & Sales of Nissan's General Overseas Market Yasuki Hashimoto said new models include Sunny, Cefiro, Patrol and X-Trail and these would be imported from Japan and would be distributed by Ghandhara Nissan Ltd (GNL), Nissan's sales company in Pakistan.
He said that launching of new models was aimed at being part of rapidly growing automobiles market in Pakistan. "We see great potential for the Nissan brand in Pakistan and expect Pakistani market to be an important contributor to Nissan's profitable growth momentum under Nissan Value-Up, a new three-year business plan.
Under the new plan, which will go into effect in April of this year, Nissan aims to reach annual global sales of 4.2 million units by end of the plan, up from a little more than 3 million units in fiscal year 2003.
In 2004, total vehicles sales in Pakistan amounted to 1,14,843 units showing a rise of 51 percent compared with the previous year and three times more compared with 2000. Company plans to sell a total of about 100 units of the models a month.
Mr Yasuaki hoped that due to booming business opportunities, new initiative of Nissan would help it receive a reasonable profit.
Giving the details of new four models, he said Sunny, Nissan's ever popular compact sedan model, would be available with either a 1.3 liter or 1.6 liter gasoline engine.
Cefiro features a sophisticated exterior with a high quality modern and comfortable interior. It will be available with either a 2.3 liter or 3.5 liter VQ gasoline engine.
