Member National Assembly (MNA) Kashmala Tariq stressed the need for effective advocacy and awareness about the health problems prevailing in the country and for providing relief to poor people. The MNA was addressing concluding session on a "Reproductive Health Initiatives for youth in Asia (RHIYA), Training of Trainers (ToTs) workshop organised by SAHET, PAVIHN and MSS, non-government organisations (NGOs) working on health issues in the country here on Friday.
Doctors, representatives of different NGOs and union councillors from five districts Chakwal, Kohat, Qila Saif Ullah, Jacobabad and Muzaffarabad, attended the workshop, which is funded by UNIFA and European Union.
The participants were given training on health issues including adolescent vulnerabilities, life skills, and protection from HIV-AIDS, reproductive health services, common myths and desirable health status.
Kashmala Tariq said since population was increasing at alarming rate, awareness and advocacy about reproductive health in remote areas of country would be helpful for women in health.
She urged the NGOs and health institutions to build a common vision for the provision of health services in remote areas of the country.
She said women health in country could improve through awareness, because most women were illiterate and unaware about the latest methods and advancements in the health sector.
She said cooperation and support between communities was necessary and no policy would be successful with out their positive involvement.
