Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice President Akbar Abdullah on Thursday has urged the Mexican trade delegation to help in lifting ban imposed by the Mexico on Pakistani rice. The issue was already raised by President General Pervez Musharraf with the Mexican President during his recent visit to Mexico, said the FPCCI release.
While welcoming the trade delegation of Mexico City Chamber on Wednesday, February 2, at Federation House here, Akbar Abdullah said the Pakistan business community perceived Mexico as an important partner particularly in the areas of trade and investment in North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta).
He also said the 'Expo Pakistan 2005' would play a vital role in promoting the trade between the two countries.
FPCCI Former president Tariq Sayeed suggested to the Mexico trade delegation to facilitate Pakistani exporters in the opening of Display Centre and Bonded WareHouse for Pakistani products, especially textile and textile goods to cater the market of Central and North American countries.
President Manuel Torn and Vice President Ruperto Flores for Foreign Trade of Mexico Chamber of Commerce assured the FPCCI of their fullest support and co-operation in opening of Display Centre and Bonded WareHouse in Mexico for Pakistani products.
Manuel Torn supported the idea of holding single country exhibitions of Pakistani products in Mexico and Mexican products in Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by FPCCI former President Iftikhar Ali Malik, FPCCI former vice president Arshad Alam, Sheikh Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Zakaria Usman and Agha Liaquat.
