Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) has demanded strict accountability and audit of local government institutions before the forthcoming election. Addressing a press conference Naveed Chaudhry, the PPPP Punjab Information Secretary, accused the Nazims of government involved in malpractice and misuse of resources in all the four provinces of the country.
He pointed out that upcoming local government election was not a reasonable solution of present mismanagement and corruption in the LG adding that if the government was really interested to address the masses problems it should hold general election in the country. "There will be again loot and plunder in the LG system if general election is not held in 2005" he maintained.
He was of the view that rulers are involved in powers wrangling while masses are facing civic problems. To a question he said that release of Asif Zardari and appointment of Raza Rabbani is not the result of any deal with the government, but through continuous struggle of ARD.
