The hearing of a criminal revision application filed by former Chairman and Managing Director House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) Hussain Haqqani impugning an order by the Special Federal Anti Corruption Court (FAC) Central-II was adjourned to a date in office by Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro of High Court of Sindh (SHC) due to paucity of time. The applicant called into question order by FAC-II which dismissed an application filed by Haqqani under section 249-A Cr P C seeking acquittal of accused in a corruption case.
According to prosecution, accused allowed deposition of Rs 10 million in Assets Investment Bank in 1996 while he was serving as Chairman of HBFC. The bank, which according to allegations by prosecution has low credit rating reputation, returned only Rs 6.1 million as a result of which HBFC sustained a loss of Rs 6.1 million.
The trial court after hearing the sides dismissed the acquittal plea after which instant revision application was filed by Hussain Haqqani, which was fixed for hearing before the Court today. The hearing was, however, put off indefinitely by the bench due to paucity of time.
Petition of Nazims: Meanwhile, another division bench of SHC comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Zia Pervez on Monday adjourned hearing of a constitution petition filed by four district Nazims till Tuesday morning.
On Monday, Advocate General Sindh Anwar Mansoor Khan submitted some arguments and mostly responded to the queries by the bench with regard to impugned action of Sindh government under which petitioners, Nazims of Larkana, Dadu, Hyderabad and Jacobabad were removed from their seats and DCO's were appointed as administrators.
