Minhal Sohail was first ever Pakistan female shooter to qualify in Olympics. She competed to secure 10m air rifle. Unfortunately she got eliminated from Rio Olympics 2016 as she failed to qualify for the main round of 10m Rifle Shooting event on the first day of Rio Olympics but she is an inspiration for every woman in Pakistan, who took a step forward as the air rifle shooter.
According to local media reports, Minhal managed to secure record 413.2 points for Pakistan. She was only 2.7 points short the last player to qualify for the finals. As many as eight players qualified for the next round. She defeated both of her Indian opponents, Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul, who finished 34th and 47th respectively.
Pakistani Oscar winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy had documented Minhal and other women representing Pakistan in the Olympics.
Minhal started her career in 2012. Since then she has participated in various events worldwide and won many awards. She secured her place in Olympics squad on quota, had won the 10-metre Air Rifle event in National Shooting Championship at PNS Karsaz.
