The power-generating windmills are being set up on 19,700 acres of land in Sindh coastal areas to provide citizens with cheap electricity. A Alternate Energy Board (AEB) delegation stated this here on Wednesday, adding that the project would be started from the coastal belt between Thatta and Gharo.
The delegation, led by Air Marshal Shahid Hamid and comprising Brigadier Dr Naseem A. Khan, Tariq Malik, and Irfan Afzal Mirza, called on Sindh CM's Adviser on environment and alternate energy, Muhammad Noman Sehgal, and discussed with him matters related to the alternate energy sector.
They said the project would provide ample job opportunities to the local people.
The CM's advisor lauded the services of the Alternate Energy Board, and said that a survey would be conducted for the project from February 14.
He said that negotiations would be held with various persons, who were claiming ownership of the land, and a report would be sent to the Sindh governor.
Sehgal said that the role of the Coastal Development Authority in this project would also be defined.
The delegation assured the advisor that the AEB would pay the annual revenue charged by the provincial government, while the adviser suggested that the Board should set up a committee in this regard.
He said that his department would provide the Board with all possible help regarding enhancing co-operation with the irrigation department, KESC, P&D, and other concerned departments and a sub-office would also be established at the site of the project.
He said the government wanted to initiate various projects in collaboration with the private sector to lessen joblessness in the province.
