The Ministry of Education has decided to hold annual examinations in May every year, which is intriguing and unintelligible. Karachi has the most cruel weather during May and also in June. If you collect information about the attendance of school children in the month of May during the last few years, you will find that almost half of the students were absent only because of cruel weather. A couple of years back the Government also announced the closure of schools around middle of May because of most humid and hot weather.
Historically, May is the most humid and hot month which is an undeniable fact.
Why does the bureaucracy and the Provincial Ministry of Education want to punish children by conducting annual examinations in the most cruel weather of May?
Any sane person can decide that the annual examinations should either be held the in pleasant weather of March or April but not at all during the cruel month of May.
Annual vacations should be fixed in May and June in the province of Sindh. It is not at all necessary that vacations in the other provinces of Pakistan in the same months as the weather varies from province to province and every province should be given the discretion to decide their months of vacations.
I request the esteemed newspaper, through editorials, persuade the concerned officials to fix the examination dates fore March or April. Papers may to be checked in May and June. In my opinion two months are enough for the checking of examination papers. Announcement of results may be made during the last week of June or the first week of July.
It is not the order of Almighty Allah to necessarily fix vacations during June and July. The vacations can be conveniently fixed in May and June which would be a great relief to the young students of primary and secondary classes. I hope my above request wilt receive your kind attention.
